Sunday brunch with daughter of a departed friend
It started with my call on her mother’s birthday, November 11. I asked if the three sisters cared for pots of variegated aspidistra gifted me years ago by their mother, Lucy. Whenever I moved, I took it with me. Now, the clump was moving for the new carport taking its spot….and the plants were lovely. Good time to share.
She came Sunday bearing gifts of home grown oranges, a start of devil’s walking stick, and a yellow rose from her new love’s bouquet….oh, and a glorious live Christmas door wreath.
Our meal was simple crab cakes on baby spinach, and a Riesling. Who could want for more.
